Facebook is an amazing place!

So today I was accepted into the West Indie Mission Facebook group! I am really excited to be able to see what people can tell me about the mission, how to prepare, and what to expect. Here is what I have already learned:

1.       Sister missionaries in that mission serve mostly in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and Barbados. That may not be completely accurate, because the mission is still growing so much especially with regard to sisters, however that is what a recently returned elder said. They said that sisters don't serve in Guyana for safety reasons. Let's face it, there are a lot of places where two young woman shouldn't be walking around by themselves, so I understand that precaution.

2.       I already knew that I could only have one suitcase no heavier than 50 pounds, but it was reinforced that I should pack light. People were also stressing that most things can be purchased once there, and that they are a good price as well.

3.       If I forget myself and go with an open heart, then I will be able to love the people and be loved by them also. I was told that lifelong friends are sure to be made there and everyone was raving about how amazing the areas are. I feel even more blessed after hearing everyone's rave reviews.

So much to do!

I am already coming to love the culture, people, and countries of the West Indies and I don't leave for another 4 months! I feel so grateful to be blessed with the opportunity to go to such a beautiful place to serve people from so many different backgrounds and cultures. I feel that I will learn more from them that they will learn from me, but I am going to do my very best to share with them the gospel that brings so much joy to my life. I have so much still to learn before I embark on this next great journey, but I can't be happier. I have a lot of things to sort out with passports and visas in order to be able to make this journey, but it is all worth it. I cannot sufficiently express to you my excitement and love for the work that I am so privileged to be a part of. I will keep you posted as I continue to learn what I can about the magnificent West Indies. Thank you to everyone for your congratulations and well wishes! I love you all!

The West Indies!
